my room mate has a subscription to this magazine called time out new york.
time out new york basically is a hipster guide to new york city. anyway, in last week's issue, they had a
'chef tells all' article.
80% of all chefs surveyed said their restaurant's food labeled vegetarian or vegan was in fact so.
BUT THIS MEANS 20% OF NYC RESTAURANTS ARE LYING TO US!
one chef said, "yes. well, we use chicken stock but no one can tell the difference."
creepy. and naturally, time out did not say WHO these chefs are or from what restaurants...
20% isn't a HUGE number but still, it's something. and i know this doesn't apply to EVERYWHERE but it does make me consider the fact that maybe more/most major cities are this callous too.
but are we supposed to stay in our houses, avoid all non-vegan restaurants now or what?!
