I'm co-organizing a seminar this year in which a faculty member speaks about his/her research to graduate students (or anyone who wants to listen, really) each week. Today, the professor was quite annoyed about the lunch that was provided (by my co-organizer; we alternate weeks bringing food). We have a budget of $40 for each lecture; last week I brought bread, jam, hummus, persimmons, kiwis, dates, plums, sugar snap peas, cookies, and ginger candies (all vegan). This week's lunch was fairly similar (although there were a few non-vegan items).
This professor has suggested ordering pizza and getting a salad for me. I hate that idea. I was pretty keen on the lunches we have been bringing up to now. Do you have any ideas for how I can improve it? Cooking is not a reasonable option. Thanks!
(He may manage to get the budget increased, in which case getting catered food is possible. But I'm not counting on that.)
