Just have to say, I absolutely hate when people say "I could never do that". It bothers me so much. Trust me, you can. It's not hard once you get past your own self-righteousness.

people usually tell me cheese is the reason they could never go vegan, and I always point out how cheese has chemicals in it that act like drugs that would make it hard to give up. People are usually kind of shocked that their beloved cheese makes them feel "addicted" in a sense ( ... )

Wow, that's really interesting. I've never heard of that. I'll have to point that out to my boyfriend who works in the cheese department at Whole Foods.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casomorphine

I mean, it kind of makes sense since it says it can come from milk. Hence why people will drin ka glass of warm milk to fall asleep. Also, it says that similar things are found in breat milk, which would make the babies sleepy, good for them at the time so it can help generate growth, but not necessary for adults.

so, cheese (and dairy) contains casomorphine, which makes you tired, sluggish, sleepy, and makes you feel a mini sort of opiod pleasure. hmm, similar to the drug morphine.

"I could never do that" or "I admire you, but I'd never be able to do it" kind of comments bother me way more than comments from people who think veganism is stupid, honestly. I really want to respond with "You could do it, you are just too apathetic and selfish." Usually I just tell them that I thought it would be difficult when I first started, but it was MUCH easier than I expected.
