Veganize me asap! With egg replacer...

So my father's birthday is coming up in a few days and I am making him some baked goods. He was talking a while back about some sort of treats called "Walnut Walkaways" that he was in love with when he was a kid. I found a recipe for them www.recipezaar.com/Walnut-Walkaways-69401 that I'm going to attempt to veganize. (My father is in no way vegan, but he hasn't had them since he was a kid anyways so what the hey.)

My question for the vegan bakers out there is "What kind of egg replacer do you think would work best in this type of recipe?" I generally use Ener-G egg replacer or soy yogurt when I bake, however I have not made any dessert-y treats that have a yeast risen dough like this one. Is there a replacer that would work better in this situation such as flax seed? Has anyone here attempted to veganize "Walnut Walkaways"? If so, what was the outcome? Thanks!
