Oh Holiday Tree...

So I realize this is a bit early, but, like Walgreens, I get excited about the holidays early (though I don't decorate as early).

I was thinking the other day about how excited I am to have my first Holiday tree as a grown up with my boyfriend in our first apartment together. But then I realized - are Holiday trees really vegan? From the perspective of a dietary and environmental vegan, they don't seem like it. I know they plant them just to cut them down, but that seems sort of like using the excuse "Well, they raise the pigs to slaughter them so we can eat them", just on a different level.

At the same time, I was thinking "Oh, just get a fake tree!". But that brings up the point of landfill pollution when the tree needs to be thrown away or recycled. Plus, are they even recyclable?

I'm so excited about the holidays, and I want to do something to celebrate. Decorating an outside tree just doesn't seem to have the same effect of tradition and holiday cheer, and getting a fake tree is, well, just not an option to me. What are your opinions, and can you think of any proper replacements?
