The Putney Inn has some vegan food :) (but they are expensive) - I'm not sure if they make it still but they use to make a chocolate on chocolate vegan cake. There is a food co-op in Putney - with a bunch of different vegan foods. I'm sure you'll just end up stopping there a bunch. There is public trnsportation (believe it or not!) and if you get the bus schedule - they take you towards Brattleboro - which has an awesome co-op - better than the one in Putney, there is also a vegan Rastafarian restaraunt accross the street from the co-op - it's just called "vegetarian" - the curry tofu there is awesome. There are some a place that sells falafel (skip the tahini though and only go in if you can stomach seeing cooked lamb). You can also take the bus North - in Bellows Falls (my old town) they have a little Italian place that makes some vegan food... and on the way to Bellows Falls there is this little cafe - Cafe Loco (I haven't eaten there but I've heard it is pretty good). If you find a way to get to Keene, NH (30 minutes East of Brattleboro) there is a vegan restaurant called "County Life" - which is a buffet style place but relatively cheap. There are a lot of places around that have some vegan food but not many vegan places specifically. I'm not sure if the Higher Ground is open still (that is also in Bratt.) but they use to serve buffet style foods (and they put on underground/punk type shows there, or at least use to). I know there is an Indian restaurant (I've only ever had the lentil soup and that was like 10 years ago). There is a Thai food restaurant (not all is vegan though).
I think I basically summed up all that I can think of.... The other great thing is that on almost every major street, there is some kind of veggie farm stand in the warmer months... I don't live in that area so much anymore but I'm still not too far, so maybe we could meet up sometime (my work schedule is the shits this year, so I don't even get home until like 10PM, grr).
