My fiance doesn't agree or disagree with a lot of things. He is always in between on issues. An independent in politics. So basically while he does support my veganism, he still always questions. First of all, how do you "humanely" murder a living being? And I can't see how it could ever be seen as "natural" to drink the milk of another species since other animals don't do that.

ANYWAY.

So we're superior. As you said might does not make right. Just because you have the power to be cruel to other living beings does not mean you should use it. We are superior to many other animals because we can thrive without causing suffering to other living beings. Making the decision to do so is a sign of superiority. Other animals have no choice. They eat what they can to survive. We are capable of making decisions that positively impact all other sentient beings on the planet and still be happy and healthy. So, in my opinion, there is no excuse other than pure selfishness.

We are much like apes. We are convenience eaters meaning we can digest meat but would be better if we eat plant based a plant based diet. But we are more likely to survive than many other animals because in times of famine we can eat just about anything (plant or animal) to survive. We are not experiencing famine at this time though. So there is no need for us to eat meat.

How can we say we are better than animals if we are capable of stopping the suffering of animals but don't care to make the changes? The only difference between us and animals is that we CHOOSE to be cruel when it is not necessary.
