Homemade Vegan Hair Conditioner?

Apr 09, 2008 10:58

Hello, all!

I don't buy shampoo or conditioner from the store (no-poo method with baking soda and apple cider vinegar) and I used to use a recipe for an awesome conditioner. It calls for olive oil, honey, lemon juice, and an egg.

Several months ago, I realized that I just couldn't bring myself to put an embryo into my hair. Just. Couldn't. It wasn't long after that realization that I also realized I couldn't eat eggs or animals in any other stage of death.

I can use imitation honey, but I haven't been able to figure out what to substitute for the egg. The whole 'drop of coconut oil' just makes my hair greasy. I want to make my hair shinier and fluffier, without using animals or a prepackaged bottle to do it.

Any suggestions?

(I'll also take suggestions for store-bought vegan  products, but I'll be reading the list of ingredients with scrutiny as far as natural vs. unnatural additives go)

Thanks!
