i attended VegFest yesterday in Seattle yesterday. did anyone else go? it was pretty grand, especially for the price; $5 gets you really full on samples. there were loads of goodies - loads. i really can't remember brand names, sadly (most of the stuff is only available in the states anyway) but some of my favourites were a chocolate mousse with whipped 'cream', marinated tofu (the sundried tomato & herb a garlic flavours reminded me of cheese), Sunrice tofu, creamy Sheese, and Tofurky italian deli slices. i was a bit disappointed that the people working the booths were volunteers because i wanted to ask questions to the makers. plus, i joined Vegetarians of Washington (even though i live in Vancouver) for $20 and got a whole bag full of samples, a gorgeous fruit/veg calendar and a subscription to 'Vegetarian Times' magazine. it was really packed there and it felt great to be in a huge room full of veg lovers.
afterwards, i headed to Sidecar and got a couple buttons, and a couple of those Primal Strips (tender jerky seitan - my new favourite snack). for dinner, we filled up at what is, in my opinion, the best vegan restaurant ever, Araya (Thai).
