So it seems people are generally against vegan cat food. I understand this, and don't think you should jeopardise the health of an animal. However, what about something like
this?
For the link-phobic this cat food:
is a complete and nutritionally balanced Vegan diet for adult cats. It meets all nutritional requirements according to the Association of American Feed Control Official's (AAFCO) cat food nutrient profile for adult maintenance.
A natural product with the exception of synthetically produced taurine, niacin and some vitamins this food contains no artificial colours or preservatives. All raw ingredients used in this food are of human consumption quality and where possible organic. Most of the vitamins, minerals and enzymes are added in a whole food state to enhance absorption, eg. Whole Barley Grass, Spirulina, Sea Kelp and a pro-biotic, all in their natural form. All whole foods are human grade and organic.
Essential Fatty Acids
Flaxseed Oil, Canola & Sunflower Oil are included as sources of Linoleic Acid. This acid is broken down into a balance of Omega 3 and Omega 6 essential long-chain fatty acids. Actual long-chain tare/acids Docosahexanoic Acid (DHA), Arachadonic Acid (Aa) and Elcosapentanoic Acid (EPA) have also been added. These ingredients assist cats who cannot efficiently break down Linoleic Acid and promote healthy coat and skin and general wellbeing.
Enzymes
Natural enzymes have been added to assist in pre-digestibility of fibre. This is an essential ingredient for cats due to their short gastro-intestinal tract and rapid rate of food passage.
I only have a ferret, and I have no evidence that this food is safe for her so I wouldn't be buying this, but I wondered if it really was safe & healthy for cats.
