manual soymilk maker

I've been looking for a soy milk / tofu maker that doesn't require electricity.  Does anyone know of any?  I figure there must be something like this out there somewhere since they've been making both products in Asia for quite a long while.

Everything I've seen online is electric, and I'm trying to avoid things that need to be plugged in.  Or ( Read more... )

The reason they're all electric is because the water needs to boil. Here are instructions for making it on a stovetop and with a blender: http://www.bryannaclarkgrogan.com/page/page/593450.htm#stove-top. There's a manual blender here http://www.mec.ca/Products/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524442499189&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302696413&bmUID=1174426448825, but I've never used it so I can't vouch for its efficacy.

I have made soymilk by hand before, and it is not really a big deal (I used the instructions on Bryanna Clark Grogan's blog).

I would honestly consider a machine if I planned to make it on a regular basis, simply because the most energy consuming part of the machine is the kettle -- and to make it by hand, you are boiling the water anyway.
