Question re: cupcake obsession

Why are vegans obsessed with cupcakes?

Have you noticed this? Are you, personally, guilty of cupcake obsession? I belong to several vegan food communities, and a good percentage of posts deal with cupcakes or are pictures of cupcakes. A truly fascinating phenomenon!

I am not obsessed with cupcakes myself. I do enjoy making sweets for people to hear them go "WOW - this is vegan!?" Cupcakes are probably some of the prettier foods to post pics of and I think many people have been trying out their 'vegan cupcakes take over the world [and make vegans fat]' cookbooks :) I'm joking people. My guess is that most vegan cooking just doesn't translate as well to photos... though, I should have taken pics of the vegan stuffed pepppers my sis made tonight. YUM - I had 2!

Personally, I've been on a healthy vegan kick. I really overdid it with sweets in the past and my health suffered. I'm finding my passion again for healthy snacks like apples, mangoes, berries and sweet peppers... again - not the 'splashy photo' type foods.

Still - I say - bring on the cupcake pics - I still like to drool over vegan food porn too! I may even make the rose cupcakes with chocolate ganache for a co-worker's b-day ... and then I'll take some pics! :)

i had no idea of this cupcake craze. perhaps because there aren't a lot of vegans in my part of the world. also, i don't bake a lot. i am not only vegan, but extremely health-concious. plus, i prefer cakes. they're bigger.

I believe that's more of an American thing - Americans appear to have a peanut gene that's generally missing from Britons (broad generalisations ahoy!). I like peanut butter in certain things, but my [American] husband loves the stuff in any form.
