Since yesterday was Burns Night, I thought some people might appreciate a few words from the great Scottish poet on the subject of animals, blood sports and the relationship between human and non-human creatures.
Try his famous poem
"To A Mouse" or the less well-known
"On Scaring Some Water-Fowl". His letter (details and background
here) and accompanying poem (shown in the original
here) "On Seeing A Wounded Hare Limp By" is extremely powerful and touching.
