POM wondeful indeed!
Yes, I have another POM post. This is a posting sent out by a friend who was sued by POM over the domain name 'pomkills.com' and for protests at POM executives' homes (not saying that she was or was not doing this things, merely that they sued her for them). It's a very good inside look at the POM events:
A week ago Pom lost their attempt to steal the website,pomkills.com in a domain dispute. This ruling helps sets a legal precedent for activist websites.
Two days ago the CEO of POM stood outside his million dollar estate and said, "You are terrorists. You can come back in 45 years and we will still be killing animals."
One day ago Whole Foods announced they would no longer carry Pom until the company stopped animal testing.
Today Pom Wonderful announced they would halt all animal testing now and would not test in the future.
It remains to be seen if they will drop the lawsuit against activists or not.
I go to sleep tonight inspired and hopeful. During this campaign I watched one of my best friends thrown to the ground and choked by a man twice his size and I watched that same friend get right back up,turn his back on his assailant and continue his protest. I was punched in the face and head by two men just moments later. I watched the cops do nothing and then steal our videotape. Still never once did we consider giving up. Not one activist responded to the assaults with violence.Pom repeated over and over, "We will never stop testing." They tried to label us terrorists and 'ringleaders.' Million dollar lawyers,assault and battery, and crooked cops proved to be no match for steadfast activists...Most importantly however is the fact that thousands of animals will be saved and 10 million less dollars will be pumped into the pockets of those who engage in fraudulent science this year.
If we take anything away from this victory let it be that we must never back down and in turn we will always win. Also, let this motivate you to again move forward in the fight to end all cruelty towards animals (human and non human).
