Hey guys, I'm new to both this group and to veganism, so hello. This is my fourth day as a vegan, I know you're all impressed. this is tough to answer, because i feel like i need to outline everything i do and don't do, but i'll give it a shot and try to keep it short.

i make sure everything i buy, including things like household cleansers, soap, shampoo, makeup, food and clothing contain no animals. i do sometimes fudge on the beeswax and honey thing, but mostly because i feel it hypocritical to step on a roach but give special treatment to bees. i follow the bee rule 99% of the time, but if it's between not having chapstick for a week and having to order it online or getting it right then, i usually buy the product with beeswax.

i also try to keep everything as natural and environmentally friendly as possible. i buy locally grown and organic fruits and vegetables. i don't purchase things from companies who violate human rights or the environment. if there is a permanent alternative to something disposable, i fork over the extra cash for the non-disposable item. for things i can't reuse, like toilet paper, i buy recycled. i recycle everything that may remotely be recyclable. i reuse things until they've been used up. i ride my bike or walk whenever i can. i take the stairs instead of the elevator. i turn off the lights when i leave the room. i just try to conserve as much as possible. whenever i have a patch of land of my own, i will cultivate my own food.

sometimes you won't be able to afford to do all those things, but you should be aware of them and that you have the power to choose. each of these things is just as important as eating meat and dairy free.
