So I'll be doing some traveling over the next couple of weeks (visting art schools:D). Anyone have any recommendtations for good veg*n restaurants in Boston, Providence, or Philly?
I'm not sure about restaurants, but I know about art schools! Just to warn you (if you're going to check out these schools), the MassArt cafeteria has next to nothing, but RISD has a lot of vegan options!
aw..That seems to be a trend with Boston schools. SMFA didn't have anything either. All the other art schools I've looked at have been really vegan-friendly, especially MICA, but alas, they don't have glass blowing.:(
I absolutely loved it. I dropped out my junior year ('99) due to depression, it was the biggest mistake I ever made. Do you know what you'd major in yet? I chose Studio for Interrelated Media. It's for people who like to do a combination of things, or more digital arts kids go for it, too.
Just a warning, the glassblowing classes fill up very very quickly, ususally before sophomores get a chance to sign up.
I wish I could see the new dorms! (well, new to me, they built them right after I left) They look so nice! If I ever go back I'd want to stay in them (even though I'm oooollld now hehe)
I heard the cafeteria did actually improve, and it HAS ben 8 years since I've been there, so don't take my word on that. If it hasn't improved, don't take the cafeteria workers' word on the ingredients of something.
aw..That's sad [that the glass blowing classes fill up sp quickly]. I was thinking that or painting or something with fabric (besides fashion design) would be my major. I actually just took a glass blowing class last weekend, which confirmed the belief I'd held for about 10 years prior: that I freaking love glass. :P
Glass is awesome. I never got to take a class but I wanted to. Massart has a whole big fibers dept, dealing with cloth, paper, etc. Gahd, I loved it there.
Glass is pretty much beyond awesome -- like, on a scale of one to awesome, glass is the shit.
I just recently -- and by recently, I mean last Friday -- learned how to sew, and I ended up liking it a lot more than I thought I would. I'm actually doing a sewing thing for my senior project (Yeah..We have to do one..Blah) Anyway..I'll be making assorted-colored awesome bags (like this --> http://deiva-tiskalai.livejournal.com/25321.html), selling them, and donating the money to a local charity. Technically it hasn't been approved yet, btu I've already sold 7 bags, so...aha
