Weight question

Hey all,

I'm celebrating my triumphant return to veganism (hurray!); I'd been vegetarian for ten years and vegan for two, and then went so spain, threw in the towel, and have been eating the mean way (turkey, chicken...i know, not cool) for about six months.

The thing is: I gained weight when I started being vegan from vegetarian, about 15 pounds (coincident with starting college, so the veganism might not be to blame), and then couldn't lose it. However, when eating the mean way, i finally lost the weight. Very exciting - I could fit back into my favorite jeans, etc again. And then I gave away all my fat clothes.

And then I went vegan again and have started to gain weight! I exercise a lot - I run almost 5 miles every weekday, lift weights, try to go to yoga twice a week, etc. I'm an active person. I know it's not in my genes to be super-skinny (I'm 5'5 and 130 lbs when eating mean, 145-ish when vegan), and I'm okay with that. However, I was excited to be fitting into my clothes, and now I'm sad.

My eating is almost exactly the same, except that when I'm vegan I eat a *lot* more fruit. I trade out amounts almost exactly on everythin else; lots of beans, tofu - lean protein and no junk food. The problem is that I live far away from school and eat a lot of meals in my car; I always stop at the grocery store and when I'm eating everything will grab a yogurt and some turkey and maybe an apple, but there's not a lot of ready-to-eat vegan protein avaiable so I get grapes and an apple instead. It's more carbs, but shouldn't the running be burning them off?

Sorry to overload your friends lists - I'm just very frustrated and I know that vegan is the right way to live, but I'm *so much* happier when I like the way I look.

Thanks for your advice :)
