i just ate some tofu that didn't smell quite right. what's going to happen to me?
it expires 7/15 but has been opened, in my fridge, since sunday (not the sunday just past, the one before that) -- and i only changed the water three times since then.
does anyone have experience w/this?
i checked the memories but didn't find anything.

thanks..

If it was really off, you could get an upset stomach. I've had tofu that smelled slightly off, but was absolutely fine. No-one can give you a definitive answer, but I doubt it will be anything remotely serious. If you have diarrhea or vomiting that won't stop, or a high temperature, that's the time to call the doc.

Well that's reasonable. Usually, things like this are OK, but sometimes people do have unfortunate reactions.

You'll implode. ... Just kidding. Drink alot of water, take a few immune boosting vitamins and get your rest. This will help to ensure any ickies you may have consumed don't make you ill. I agree with vgnwtch watch for serious ickies and let a doc know. Try not to eat the funky fuzzy stuff. ;)

Yeah...what they said. I would just take it easy...eat bland food for the next 24 hours or so...drink a little extra water...and keep a phone handy. But it could be that your immune and digestive systems are already handling any potential challenges. Good luck...hope your tummy stays well.

You should be fine-- especially if you cooked it. Cooking will kill most harmful bacterias.
I have found, however, that tofu is still usually edible well after it develops a stench. Often if you rinse it well, the smell goes away.
