Someone posted about the PureFit bar that claimed "vegan" but included honey...
I emailed them and got a response today. Tell me if it makes any sense to any of you.

To Whom it May Concern,
While looking over your site I noticed a product which is clearly labeled "No animal products - vegan," yet the ingredients list honey. Honey is quite certainly an animal product - it's made by bees... it's the same idea as milk coming from cows.
The product is here:
http://www.purefit.com/store/popup_chocolate.php Following is a link to exactly why honey is not vegan.
http://www.vegetus.org/honey/honey.htm Your statement should read "Vegetarian" and you should drop the "no animal products" entirely.
*** and the response:
Thank you for your email. Our product was never intended to be “vegan.” This nutritional statement was simply just a matter of coincidence. It was determined, prior to going to manufacture, that our bars were vegan. We didn’t know what this meant, as it was also not a goal we were trying to obtain. Prior to making the claim, we verified this statement by other vegans, food scientists, and nutritionists.
Many "vegans" choose to not eat honey. They have been told that honey is not vegan, or have made the assumption. But honey is technically not vegan. In other words, you appear to be a vegan who also does not eat honey. Technically, they are not one in the same.
I understand that we probably have lost you as a customer, but we have spent a lot of money verifying that honey is technically not vegan. I hope I cleared up this matter.
Sincerely,
Robb Dorf President

I guess what confuses me is how many times and in how many different ways he tells me that honey isn't vegan. I think Robb's confused or maybe just needs to proofread before he sends out emails. I also don't understand why they would make a claim to something when they didn't know what the word meant.
I sent another short email explaining it again...
