In Canada Marcelle cosmetics can be found at any Shoppers Drug Mart, Zellers, and Wal-Mart (and a few other locations) and are a relatively good price.
Here's their website. They are never tested on animals.
I've been using their matte foundation, blush and eyeliners for about a year now, and love them, but had no idea if any of their products were vegan or not. Since I just ran out of my foundation I decided to e-mail them, and got a very satisfying reply. The first e-mail is just about some general products, and the second e-mail is about the products that I use.
We thank you for your interest in both Marcelle® Cosmetics and Annabelle® Cosmetics products. You are correct; both are sister brands and properties of Groupe Marcelle Inc.
We appreciate the time you took to contact us with your inquiry. We understand that you may be concerned about something as important as products which do not contain any animal-by products.
Further to your email, it seems that the definition of animal-by products varies from one person to another. Carmine is part of some of our colour cosmetic formulations, as most of our competition. Lanolin is found in the Annabelle® Rouge Velours Liptick; Rouge Metallic Lipstick and Le Gloss Stick; as well as in the Marcelle® Lip Balm, True Radiance SPF 15 Make-Up and Rouge Vitality Lipsticks. The vast majority of our formulations are devoid of animal-by products, as we used many synthetic and vegetal extracts. We do need to inform you that the regular Marcelle® Anti-Wrinkle Cream does contain animal-by products. The Annabelle® Makeup Pro Brushes for the face are made entirely of natural, premium quality High Goat hair and the eye brushes are made entirely of natural pony hair. All other Annabelle® Cosmetics products are devoid of animal-by products.
Once again, we appreciate the time you took to contact us. We value your comments and concerns.
Please do not hesitate to contact us again if we can be of further assistance to you or if you require additional information.
Best regards,
Caroline Macé
