Chocolate Truffles

Dec 05, 2011 14:30

Hi guys!

Am making some Christmas presents this year. I've made some gingerbread dough, cranberry chutney, and mincemeat (if you want any recipes I'll post them) and I'm after a good recipe for chocolate truffles, or any kid of chocolates that you've has success with.

Other foodie gift ideas also welcome!

Many thanks!

Vegan Reese's! unhappenable December 5 2011, 22:38:18 UTC
Vegan Reese's are really easy to make! Just melt chocolate chips and spread around the edges of those tiny cupcake papers. Mix powdered sugar into some peanut butter (or any other kind of nut butter, I'd imagine!). I don't have a proportion, just do 2:1 pb to sugar and add more until it's sweet enough. Roll the mixture into smallish balls to fit in the papers and cover with more melted chocolate. Stick them in a freezer and voila!

I think some people add a milk alternative to make the chocolate shiny, but it's unnecessary. The chocolate stays firm at room temp, though I don't know how they'd fare in the mail.

Ooh, I've never had Reese's, but they sound divine! Thanks! Does adding 'milk' to chocolate really make it glossy? I might try that.

mm!! does this have a coconut taste, though, even without the flaked coconut?

This one is SOOO easy. I always make the peppermint version, and it doesn't have a coconutty flavour at all!

If you omit the flaked coconut, it does not taste like coconut. It works well with a variety of flavors/add-ins because you can't taste the coconut milk.

This is for gingerbread as in gingerbread men/house. Although I'm definitely gonna make some gingerbread cake in the coming weeks ( ... )

The easiest, yummiest truffle recipe I've found is to make oreo truffles with vegan oreos (Newman's) and vegan cream cheese. I always melt Ghiradelli's chocolate chips for the outside. Soo yummy! Pretty much a vegan version of this: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/easy-oreo-truffles/
