And I love it! It has lots of recipes for obvious things like soups and stews and curries, as well as breakfasts that you can let cook all night and have ready and waiting for you in the morning. So far I've used it to bake a whole pumpkin (yes, you could do this in the oven, but if you do it in the slow cooker, you can leave and do other things without risking a fire hazard, and it uses much less electricity), cook steel cut oats in a couple different ways, oh and I've now made "Spanish Quinoa" several times, that recipe is super bomb! Lots of really awesome recipes in there, I highly recommend it. She also gives great ideas for uses of slow cookers that you might not normally think of, like for camping! You can make a pizza in a slow cooker if you have a larger one. Seriously, so many recipes in that book.
I got this recently too, I assume that's what the OP meant when they said 'mixed reviews'. I have had mixed experiences with it, some amazing recipes and some that were inedible but I think the trick is (as the author says) to learn your slow cooker - some need more time, some less, some hotter or cooler etc.

(I made overnight oatmeal (steel-cut, not rolled) a couple of days ago which was great. Awesome whole grains ready to eat in the morning. :)
