Variety is the spice of life.
This is my average pot of soup:
First:
lightly sautee:
[using chili oil and olive oil or sesame oil]
garlic
sweet onion
green onion
basil
oregano
rosemary
thyme
cayenne [I like it spicy]
3-4 slices habanero pepper
1-3 crushed Japanese pepper
LOTS of black pepper
1/2 jalapeno, sliced
When lightly sauteed, put in large pot with lots of water, begin to heat.
Add whatever additional spices you desire [i usually add chili powder, a pinch of salt, & curry powder]
Then add chopped:
broccoli
cauliflour
green beans
onion
tomato
carrots
green banana or plantain
apple
parsnip
eggplant
zuccini
cabbage
portabello, oyster, or your favorite mushroom
& whatever else you can find :)
enjoy with dumplings or biscuits!
[i suggest drop biscuits covered in flax seeds]
You might find the addition of banana and apple odd, but i suggest that you try it, it adds a subtle sweetness to the soup.
