Thanksgiving is being held at my aunt's this year, and when my dad mistaken told her I was just a vegetarian, she cocked her head and said "That's okay - vegetarians can eat turkey! Otherwise, where would they get their protein!" Sigh. She evidently doesn't even know what a vegetarian is, let alone a vegan

I've been thinking about possibly doing a stuffed butternut squash done with apples, forbidden rice, sage, red-skin baby potatoes and toasted pecans. I just keep thinking of cheese for Thanksgiving, is the problem!

I'm not sure where the cheese association is coming from. I'm thinking of what my family normally eats on Thanksgiving, and it's pretty much cheese-free: turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, corn, sweet potatoes, rolls, and pumpkin pie.

Sometimes we have mac and cheese on the table, too. It was my favorite food growing up, and my birthday falls on Thanksgiving every few years so I can make a special request.
