Healthy (er) Pumpkin Muffins

Hello, all!

Last night I made Pumpkin Muffins using the recipe from Vegan with a Vengeance. While the muffins are absolutely AMAZING, they include (what I perceive to be) a lot of oil and sugar, and seem to be crossing the line from muffins over to cupcakes. I was just wondering if anyone had any slightly healthier pumpkin muffin recipes, or suggestions on how to healthify this recipe. I'm thinking substituting some of the all-purpose flour with whole-wheat, and maybe replacing half of the oil with applesauce and reducing the sugar a little bit? (The muffins don't need to be super sweet, and applesauce will add some sweetness, right?)

The ingredients include:
1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
1 1/4 cups sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground or freshly grated nutmeg
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp ground allspice
1/8 tsp ground cloves
1 cup pureed pumpkin
1/2 cup soy milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 tablespoons molasses

I like to have at least the illusion of healthfulness in  my breakfast foods. :-)
