sneaky pasta PSA
my mom, who is as big of a spaghetti nut as i am, posted an entry on her blog about the downsizing of pasta boxes, and i wrote about it in my own lj, but i thought the members of this community might appreciate a heads-up as well.
basically, many pasta companies are downsizing their boxes from 16 to 13.75 oz, without lowering their prices, so it's a sneaky way of getting you to pay more for their pasta - just as other companies have done in the past with things like yogurt, although as clever vegans that particular bit of chicanery didn't affect most of us. the only pasta company that appears to be resisting the trend so far is de cecco, and it's entirely possible that they're planning to hop on the bandwagon. so be on the lookout, because your favorite pasta brand could be shafting you...
