Hello everyone!
I have noticed a trend lately that might help solve my acne issues -- it seems every time I start eating a lot of soy, I break out in cysts along my neck. Gross I know, but there is a question behind this. Anyway, I did an experiment where I cut out almost all soy products (including the little ones in processed vegan treats) and lo and behold I started to clear up! At first I thought it might be hormones because I just found out I was pregnant. Thus, I started eating soy again and guess what? Breakout city.
Anyway, if I have finally discovered the solution to what has been the bane of my existance for years I will be one happy girl.
Of course, this means I can't eat a lot of my favorite foods anymore.
So, my question is this: Does anybody know of a non-soy alternative to certain things like soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, margarines, etc? Also, does anyone know of any good recipes for a "Cream cheese" like spread using nuts, etc. instead of tofu?
The soy sauce is my main question because you still need to use it for things like seitan and chickpea cutlets, stir fry's and the like.
Any help would be much appreciated. Also, does anybody here have a soy allergy themselves?
Thanks everyone!
(also, sorry for the long drawn out story, but I thought people who have acne issues might find it interesting.)
