Seitan Straganoff

Hi, everyone,

I joined this community a while ago, and boy am I glad that I did! I'm a vegetarian but have been trying to go vegan (damn my love of real cheese).  I found a cooking DVD at my local library called Vegan Cooking for Animal Lovers: Cooking with the Hardcore Chef.  One of the recipes that intrigued me -- once I got past my annoyance of ( Read more... )

there's a seitan portobello stroganoff recipe in vegan with a vengeance and i think it's my favorite dish *ever*. ive never had non-vegan stroganoff so i dont know if this is more authentic or not. but i love love love it.

this one sounds yummy and delicious too :)

Yes! I love that stroganoff so much!

I don't know how close it is to authenticity, but it reminds me a lot of the stroganoff my dad would make when I was younger (and an omni). Except the VwaV recipes has mushrooms and peas (two things my dad doesn't eat) so it makes it even better for me.

no. they're not. they just don't have the yolk int hem. hence "no yolk" egg noodles.

no yolk egg noodles have egg in them, so advising people to use them is not appropriate in this community. could you edit and just say noodles?

I did a tempeh stroganoff of my own recipe last week and I used whole wheat rotini. It was awesome with it.

I found an egg-free "egg" noodle in bulk that tasted great. I like to make them with vegan gravy (noodles and gravy was an old favorite at my grandma's house).

FYI, this is my favorite vegan cheese recipe. It rules:
