Qabili Pilau

My in-laws live close to an Afghan restaurant in NJ where I've had vegetarian qabili pilau (or pilaw or polow or palaw, depending on who's spelling it, it seems), and as I recently stumbled across an Afghan recipe page, I thought I'd give it a go.  What follows is the recipe from the page, which involves lamb, plus my (very few) amendments for ( Read more... )

Certainly the examples I've had have been just gorgeous. I'm hoping I can build up a vegan Afghan repetoire.

now if i could figure out the spicing in Pamir's sabsi/sabzee/sabsee i would be in heaven! everything there was so delicately flavored...

It's such a great restaurant. I need to kidnap their chef and transport her/him over to the UK. My in-laws are coming for a visit next month - I wonder if I could talk them into taking care of things at the American end...?!!!

You should definitely try the potatoes recipe on the website, or find another. We have an Afghani restaurant here that shows up at the outdoor fairs and their potatoes are absolutely delicious!!
