Dandelion Greens

Mar 22, 2007 16:38

Hi! I'm new here... Well I've never eaten dandelion greens before, but I just found a big one out in my garden (you know you're a vegan when you see a weed and think, "I want to EAT that!") So do I just pull it up and add it to my recipe du jour? (Or am I the only one who goes around trying to eat weeds?!)

i know exactly what you mean! i got so excited when i saw a huge batch of mustard taking over our community garden. i love weeds.

i've never had dandelion greens, but as long as they aren't poisonous i say sauté them up and enjoy.

Wow, mustard is even cooler! Sadly, that hasn't magically cropped up in my garden, but maybe one of these days...? LOL :)

make sure there are no pesticides! other than that, i would say that the smaller ones probably taste better.

but go for it, just wash it well!

Yep, it's 100% organic dandelion! And unfortunately pretty big, so I'm preparing myself for bitterness! Thanks for the advice! :)

I personally like to use the green leafs in a nice salad. It's yummy .

it's a bit bitter, so mix it with sweet greens

Mmm, dandelion salad! :) I don't have sweet greens on hand at the moment (just did my weekly shopping today) but I'll have to try that sometime! :)

Smaller ones are more tender. Saute with vinegar and black pepper for a lovely adobo.
