Homemade Chinese-style Dumplings!

Last week, a couple of friends hosted a potluck event and I decided at the last minute to make Chinese-style dumplings. I'd never made them before even though I've wanted to for a very long time, but I happened to have a package of wrappers in the fridge from a recent trip to the Asian superdupermarket, and I just decided to go for it. Thanks! They tasted great, too. I am still embarrassed by how long I've been telling myself I should try my hand at dumplings but always found a reason why now wasn't a good time, especially to have it turn out to be so much easier than I every expected.

Yum! they look really good! The water chestnuts are a great idea!
I've found what works really well in these dumpling/wonton things is also those dried chinese shiitake mushrooms (rehydrated of course!), fresh ginger and spring onions. Sooo good :)
