Avocados?

I've got 4 avocados that are rapidly approaching ripeness. Do I need to use/freeze them all right now, or if I pop them in the refrigerator will that halt the ripening without doing weird things to them ( Read more... )

popping them in the fridge will slow down the ripening process. that's where mine is right now!

Thanks! I must confess that I shamelessly stole it from an image I happened across while googling recipes one day, which probably makes me a bad person, but I just couldn't resist :)

Uh-oh--conflicting advice :(

I was afraid of something like that. Maybe I'll just make guacamole out of the ones I don't use and freeze that.

nah, the brownness comes just from half-eaten avocados, especially if you take the seed out.

they will last a bit in the fridge.. just don't leave them for days on end.

fridge helps but they're cold and the skin gets dry (eg harder to get them out) and exacerbates existing problems in the avocado...

And yes, it does look promising. I'm trying to replicate the one at Araya's, which I suspect uses a green curry and doesn't use tomatoes, but the rest of that recipe looks useful. Thanks!
