Seriously...there is no food that these things don't go with. They are a bit crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. I like them as salad croutons (they're that awesome) or as a pizza topping you can add if you get takeout pizza, or on tacos. Also they're a great snack on their own to just munch on. Coating in spices and broiling somehow makes them a lot chewier and tastier than baking marinated tofu, probably since they dry out a little. I think I got the idea
here, ages ago.
Extremely Useful Tofu Cubes (spice amounts are approximate)
1 block extra firm tofu, cut uniformly into either medium or small cubes
1 Tbsp. olive oil
1/2 Tbsp. poultry seasoning (a little more if you want)
1/2 Tbsp. cumin
1/2 Tbsp. coriander (a little more if you want)
1/4 tsp cayenne powder
1/4 tsp. garlic powder or onion powder
nutritional yeast if desired (haven't tried this yet but I should've... it would be awesome)
salt
In a medium bowl, mix oil and spices thoroughly. Toss tofu cubes to coat. Spread on a baking sheet; broil until crispy (usually 10 minutes, stir, another 10-15 minutes...if you haven't preheated the oven). The cubes may jump around on the sheet as they cook, so keep them toward the middle of the sheet.
