I commented on this at thanfiction's page where we were debating, but I wanted to say how nice this was of a snapshot of their lives. It is so sad that Trevor is too ill to take Neville. It would have been a much better upbringing, I think. Definitely a much warmer home. It is heartbreaking to see Neville protecting the older members of the family, and not wanting to upset his grandfather.

Thanks for your review. I wanted to explain why we never hear about Neville's mother's family. Illness and early death seemed a good explanation.

I thought Neville would be a bit protective of his sick and elderly family. To children telling on someone is the worst of crimes.

Thank you! I have a soft spot for this story. I wanted Trevor to serve as a normal observer to the stranger aspects of the Longbottom family.
