Art + Wacom development work

First things first: the initial stages of development of a character for a picture:

Please comment with criticisms, suggestions for developing it further, etc.

Second thing: I've been learning a lot more about using the Wacom better in GIMP (although a little annoyance I still haven't quite worked out is how much GIMP slows down after a bunch of small strokes touching up an image, due to the undo history, even though I specify only to save 64M of undo history). Figuring out painting techniques that involve switching back and forth a lot between the paintbrush and smudge tools, with lots of brush size changes, and color mixing/opacity changes. Enough that I can do a fair amount of painting with only a very few layers, and can create many image components on only one layer.

This is a good thing. Even starting to find a bit of creative inspiration for characters, although I won't be giving m0usegrrl a run for her money any time soon, as my drawing/sketching skills are abysmal and I don't have the time to work on images as much. At least however Max (tentative name) looks decent. Still don't quite know how to carry the image forward into a final product (and he's only low res for now), but its a good start.
