I'm in the midst of preparing an awesome veggie dinner! Roasted red pepper, onion and goat cheese easy quiche and Kasha Salad with Mexican sweet bread from a local Hispanic bakery. While I wait for this pot of water to boil, let me tell you about my intense love for Hispanic bakeries.
I just searched for a few minutes to try to find some comprehensive listing of Hispanic/Mexican bakeries. Sadly, I returned from my search empty-handed. However, I'm sure a Google search of "mexican bakery (your city here)" would work. They have these great croissants (they're more sweet than they are buttery), conchas which is the most traditional sweet bread, and bolillos which is kind of a Mexican loaf. All three superb. But, stop by one and try some sample and discover for yourself what's good. And you're also supporting what is most likely a local, family-owned business, to which I always give a huge thumbs-up. My favorite treat is to pick up a bag of assorted breads from the bakery on a Sunday morning and enjoy them for breakfast with some friends, al fresco with some exotic fruit juices. Nothing quite like it.
Recipes for the above dishes to come.
