Well, here's a more coherent follow-up to last night's badly transcribed voice post.
The story goes like this: A couple weeks ago, Dad was in trouble because of taxes, etc, etc, and we gave him $250. We were under the impression that this was a loan. So we asked for the money back--so we could afford to live after putting the deposit on the house. Lir made a joking comment about Kathy "being bitchy" because it was mostly her money that had gone into this "loan." I was also trying to sell him my futon, which he'd been interested in before. To all this he said he'd "think about it."
So we loaded up a bunch of boxes into our car and Andrew's SUV and got it to the house. We'd just gotten home (at about 9:30) and sat down to play cards after an exhausting day when Dad came storming in, slammed a check down on the table, and was generally a bastard. He said that he didn't owe Kathy anything, so she had to leave his house that minute. He also said he couldn't kick his daughters out, but in such a tone that implied he wanted to. So we gathered up all we could, including all our clothes and such, and left.
We slept on the floor last night, but I'm still happier than I have been in a long time. Our house is lovely, and I have my own room. We went out this morning and bought an airmattress for Lir and Kathy, and some foam padding for me. We'll be comfortable enough until we can buy some beds. Dad can keep the old lumpy mattresses he said we can take. Anyway, we don't have a truck to cart them over in.
We still have some things to pick up, but we're going to head over weekdays in the morning while he's at work.
I really wonder if he realizes that he's just written himself out of our lives. This was the last straw. We don't need him, and I for one have no regrets in cutting all ties. He's going to die a lonely old man, since he drives away anyone who gets close to him.
So, we're moved in. It's great. We're saving so much money in gas already!
Oh, and if anyone wants to send us a housewarming gift, just ask and I'll give you my addres. *Winks* And if you want to talk to me during my internet dearth, let me know and I'll sling you my phone number.
