news and stuff

i haven't posted in a while. mostly because I'm content and don't need an outlet, but I have this thing about back reading about my life that makes me want to write for documentation rather than for release. i don't know if anyone out there really cares, and i don't think that bothers me.

here's what's been going on in my life:

1. school's back in session. this year is already looking to be 500% better than last year for a variety of reasons that aren't worth getting into. i was thinking today about work, and teaching and school, and remembering how utterly devastated i was when I lost my last job, and then how much i hated this new place when I started (mainly because it wasn't the old place, and because it was SO HARD). Now I think that this job has made me so much a better teacher, and was thinking that I'm so happy that I did lose that job because I have grown (such a used-up word) as a person and a teacher and I'll never be the same because of it. anyway, school's back and I'm happy to be back. I'm tired, but I'm happy.

2. i'm taking my last masters class to get a second certification. this means more money (yay) and better options for when I do get another job

3. you may wonder why I might be thinking of getting another job when I just finished talking about how much i love this one, so I'll tell you. the new house is a long way away from this job and I didn't think it would bother me, but the immense increase in gas consumption is a problem. We don't live anywhere near public transportation that can take me to work.

4. plus, i'm actively trying to get pregnant, and if that happens, an hour commute (each way), is going to be too much time out of my day when I have an infant to take care of. I have time to kill now (outside of working and school, and homework, and stuff) and once a little wee one is in the picture, well, time will become precious.

5. summer was awesome (all three weeks of it). it was the first vacation in like a year that we didn't travel somewhere and it was SO NICE to be able to sleep whenever, read whenever, DO WHATEVER in my house with my husband and not too much to do.

6. Owen the kitten is huge, and in his terrible twos. everything needs to be killed asap in his world. this includes: my mouth whenever I kiss him, all of the other cats, my feet, my purse, my laptop, all bugs, basically everything. The only thing that doesn't get killed is my scalp and hair at 3am. this needs to be sucked on and slept in. but then it gets killed too.

7. my studio is finally set up in the new house. it makes me really happy.

8. in attempt to get pregnant, I quit drinking alcohol and quit ingesting caffeine. the alcohol was easier than I thought (mainly because I'm always around people who like to drink, for some reason) and the caffeine was a LOT harder. I only drink one cup of coffee a day (granted it's a HUGE cup), so i thought it would be relatively easy to drop the habit, but the HEADACHES that I got sucked hardcore. I ended up really not quitting caffeine completely, but just switching to decaf. my brother owns a coffee company (silverhook coffee) and they're decaf is really pretty good (btw, coffee people, you should try the coffee. i'm biased as it is my brother, but I am a coffee snob and it's really good. up there with peet's. go to the website and try some. silverhook.com).

9. hmmm, no 9

10. color scheme of the new bedroom: celery colored walls (maybe a leaf green?) with brown, black and white bedding and walls. i just ordered this amazing japanese shoji screen paper with cranes and leaves and things in greens and golds and browns that Im going to mount and hang on the walls. so pretty
