I had a dream.
Frigga and Odin had invited all the volvas to Fensalir. It was a beautiful marshland, with trees. Her home was white, with lots of windows. The main room looked almost like a theater. We took a tour of the house. *Ah, the dream is fading now*
They gave me something, something I needed, but I don't remember what. When we walked outside I could see we were all nestled in the worldtree. Which looked like trees, real trees, only I could tell they were all connected, that they were just branches of the larger tree.
They were not what I expected. Everything was so realistic. Frigga was grand, regal, yet older. Odin was grey, rounder. He had a glass eye in place of the one he lost and a small beard.
He asked Frigga if she wanted him to give the other eye up so they could pay their debts. She said no, that they would just burn the house down, with them in it, a sacrifice to themselves. I begged them not to. That they would find a way to keep their home. That they had people who would help them.
They turned a weary eye towards me. "But you all just bicker, while the house falls down around your ears." They seemed tired. Worn out. Their home wasn't as nice as when we walked though it, it was losing plaster in places, the carpet was gone, the windows broken out.
I was pulled away, when I woke, the cat and dog were staring at me, and I still have a feeling of being full of power. This dream was important. I am amazed at how real it seemed, yet how little I rememember for it being so real. I have never seen Frigga or Odin look like these two did, nor have I ever thought that Fensalir would look like a modern day mansion, with glass windows, and velvet seats in the theater.
I wish I could remember what it was they gave me, but I don't think it was explicit in the dream either. They left me with a lot to think about.
Unity. Volva-ness. The lack of support even within our own peoples. Not being able to place 'nicely' even if we can't agree on the details.
Did any of the other Volva's out there have a dream like this? There were a bunch of us there. We didn't all stay together as a group, so they weren't the center of the dream, but there had to have been at least 50 people there. It was so real, yet so fleeting upon waking.
It was important, but I don't remember why. This makes me fearful. It was important.
