A Tale of The Sad Badger, part 1

Once upon a time there was a sad badger who didn't realise she was so sad. She had all the things in the world, loads of lovely friends around her and to a point, everything she could possibly need. She also had a great way to see the world as an abundant and benevolent place, always showering her with blessings. The badger had her share of good and bad like the rest of the animals of the whole forest, but she always came through with her faith and inner light.

However, one day the sad badger had managed to climb through many obstacles reaching a great mountain top with a view that would please gods. She stood there, watching the sky rolling past like a giant aerial ocean full of waves and sparks of water. She should have felt peace, quiet and some kind of accomplishment - and she did, in a way. More than any of those things, however, the badger felt deep sadness in the fibres of her being.

For the first time in years and years she was alone in that mountain top and she could see so clearly what had come to pass. It was not a bad thing, but very very sad indeed.

The sad badger sat down and gathered all her belongings around her like a huge scrapbook of memories from the last 9 years of living on her own. Circle of one kind was closing and she did not know what would come next. It was certainly long ago that she had such a clarifying view to her inner universe... and it was very heartwrenching to see the amount of sorrow dwelling there in the valleys of her being.

For a time she just sat there, unable to do anything. Finally then the badger rose and looked up to the sky. It had turned a shade of silvery grey and the cloudy surface looked like pillows of mist. If this sadness was to be her home, she'd better start to get used to it. It's not the cards we've got but how we decide to play with them. And who says you can't play with sorrow?
