Yesterday was a day of this and that. I have to TA for five weeks after the 4th of July and found out I needed to get certified in animal handling since one of the labs is a frog dissection. I'm not too thrilled about the dissections - I haven't had to dissect anything since high school, many years ago and while I understand that this is a good lab for studying the circulatory system, there's a reason I'm in cell biology. Luckily my certification was simply working through a computer module on the basics of animal care and regulations.
I also had signed up to help with someone's experiment looking at how people learn - $20 for 30 minutes of taking a quiz on the human circulatory system, watching a computer module explaining how blood flows, and then re-taking the quiz. I did it because I could use the money and because I'm interested in how people learn- especially since I have to TA and I'm a very visual learner, although I know everyone has different styles.
I'm still planning to head to Pegasus4 in January, but I may head to Burbank in November - given the guest list and how close it is, it's very tempting...
