DONE!! (and an end to the IRS saga?)

My renovation project is done! Well, essentially. I still need to add scribe molding to a couple of the edges (which means I need to track down some that doesn't need to be stained) and there's plenty of cleaning (I can't believe how dusty things got), but the kitchen is done. I even survived painting a wall myself! My mom asked what the grand total was last night - I haven't added everything up yet, but I think I'm pretty close to my budget, but there are a couple things I want to buy now - like new dish towels and a basket for above the fridge (we took down the cabinets above the fridge and couldn't find replacement cabinets the right length so we left the space open - also I have a fridge on the smaller size, so it gives a little more flexibility to the next owner).

Pictures will be posted later today or tomorrow.

In other news, I have another chapter to the IRS saga. I got a notice in the mail yesterday that the IRS could not cash my check. This was the check they told me lost (and then found again) which I put a stop payment on. Apparently they'd tried to cash it while the stop payment was in effect. What initially freaked me out was that there was a little blurb saying I could owe 6% percent interest on the amount ($2500). However, luckily, I only needed to send them another check for the original amount, which is in the mail. I'll just keep checking my account balance and celebrate when it does get cashed (never thought I'd be so happy to see a check cashed). Next year I am e-filing for sure.
