1325, Taipei International Robotics Exhibition (TIROS)
The wireless in our dorm SUCKS. What kind of DNS cannot find "google.com?" This is just not good. Anyway, I managed to find an open wi-fi connection at the robotics trade show we're at so I can check my e-mail for the first time since leaving Kaohsiung. I'll write something worth posting later, but to those who have sent me e-mails: I have read them and appreciate the thoughts. I'll write back ASAP.
For those who asked: we did pretty well in FIRA:
- 1st place in Obstacle Run (day 2); due to a poor day 1 we finished 4th overall
- 2nd place in the marathon (with a time of 8:21, beaten only by Plymouth @ 6:44; third place was over 10 minutes)
- ~6th place in the basketball overall (despite a very poor performance overall)
- 8th place overall (about half-way up the pack)
I'm pretty happy with our results. It could have been better, but I think we did respectably. Learned lots for next year in Bristol.
Got to get back to work now. We're doing a mini-competition at the trade show, with the marathon first thing in just over two hours.
