I received a call from Remedy on Monday about a Project Job for the rest of the week. They needed someone to do some data entry and some 'other stuff.' 9-5 $10/hr. I figured I wasn't going to get a better offer for the week, so I said yes.
I've been at L.S. for two days and I've almost finished this 'week long project.' I always finish about 1/3 faster than they figure it will take. It's funny and sad all at once. When J said "through Friday and maybe part of next week," I heard "Won't take you longer than Friday to finish it up."
Well, Yesterday R (my boss for this assignment) says "We definitely need you tomorrow, but I'm not sure about Friday" I wasn't really surprised. I was surprised when he asked what my plans were, you know, what I wanted to do... I told him that I hadn't decided past 'not dealing with 7th graders.' We'd chatted about my previous job VERY briefly (nothing too nasty was said). We'd chatted about life in general while we were packing boxes full of Treos. (that was my job this week, helping to program and send out 60 Treos to various Rx companies).
He mentioned that they were looking for someone full-time and that he'd like to interview me for that. He wants to set it up for today and have me talk to P, the president of the company. As far as I can tell there are 5 main employees. P, her daughter A (who is in from IN to help), P's mom B who deals with the secretarial aspect, A who does the tech-geek programming stuff, J who is P's father (or B's husband if they aren't the same thing), and R who is my boss for this assignment (and P's partner in the business).
They had a temp in that became full-time and she really screwed them over. R told me all about that yesterday. So they won't have to pay a finder's fee to Remedy if they do hire me since Remedy 'owes them' $4k for the last one that didn't work out. (30 satisfaction policy)
So I guess I'm going to finish this job up and get an interview and then think about it over the weekend. I don't know how much they will offer salary-wise, but I don't really need benefits since I'll be on my honey's once we get married.
We will probably be doing that next week.
And NO! I'm NOT PREGNANT!!! So stop asking.
I just don't want to stress about planning the damn wedding anymore.
Party on July 14th. Details to follow.
This weekend I took a commission for pants from Dave.
dante_di_pietro would like to start introducing him to people and the BRIGHT GREEN poly-cotton pants that he has aren't going over well with Dante. They were Dante's pants until he gave them to Dave, but it's time for Dave to have new clothes.
I'm making him a pair of Maroon pants and then a pair of dark blue ones that are the same fabric as Dante's dress pants. He's a guy and didn't seem to mind when we were talking about fabric in the living room. If it was a girl and I was making the same dress for another girl (except for different trim or buttons) she'd be in a huff right now. Then again, I guess it depends on the girl and guy. Huh.
Anyway, I promised one pair done by Ymir, but trying for one done this weekend and two by Ymir.
I haven't gotten a thing done on them except that I know that I will use Dante's pattern and make the waist band bigger.
And I have the fabric and buttons picked out.
The reasons I haven't gotten anything done with that are:
1. Temp Job
2. Parasol needed gluing (which took about an hour total over the course of four days)
3. I have nothing to wear to University on Saturday
3.a. I sent my dress back to Bri to fix the sleeves
3.b. I still have the coat (though the collar needs to be fixed and it doesn't have buttons.
3.c. I have a corset and chemise
3.d. I have no skirt or bodice.
So I am finishing a skirt (read: It's put together mostly. Stitched and Pleated to waist band, but I need to finish the waistband and put in skirt hooks.), but I'm NOT going to get a bodice or dress done. So I'll probably wear the chemise, skirt, corset, and then the coat on top. Not sure if I'll try for the closed coat or the open coat and just say "fuck it" to the fact that the corset is underwear and make it outerwear for the day.
I'm inching closer to a completed outfit, but I am NOT going to miss this event because my outfit isn't perfect (or perfectly period). I could wear my 'persian' outfit which is a bright orange gauze tunic with undertunic and the pants I'm wearing today (pink/red with nifty pattern), but I'm really done with this outfit and I would freeze my ass off.
I'll figure something out to wear...
