Teaching at That Middle School...

Jan 27, 2007 09:11

I will really miss my coworkers (with very few exceptions).
I will miss my boss (the principal).
I think that if the County gets off his back, he'll be able to make some changes that are necessary.
I will miss about 15 of my students and another 5 or so kids that didn't get to teach math since they were in the advanced
math classes, but still on our team.
Make that about 10 of them.  I really wish I had gotten ONE advanced class, but at the same time, I'm glad I only had two
        preps a day.
I received a lovely poem that a coworker/friend had written for me, and the 7th grade wing framed it in a really pretty frame.
The Hospitality committee  gave me a gift bag with Candle, Holder, chocolates, and lotion.
The 7th grade teachers also gave me a gift basket with Candle, chocolates, pencils, paper, tape, and some really cute stickers
(for my inner kid).  The rest of the stuff had symbolic meaning too, but I was crying so I can't remember it very well.
A few of my students gave me presents the last day.
One of them (that I only had in Humanities (so for about 6wks)) baked me a cake.  It was a really good cake, too.
One of them gave me a huge bag of REALLY good chocolate.
And one called during the work day on Friday to make sure I had his and his mom's number and to say goodbye again.

Like I said I'll miss a lot of people.

There are a lot of things I won't miss and most of those are either the fault of some fuck-up who works at the county level, or the assistant principal who is in over her head and is listening to the county people.
On a side note, someone mentioned that she's done her three years so she'll be looking for a principal job.  I am scared.

depression, teaching, freedom, work
