Hey everyone! Here is the great experience I had recently doing observations at an Elementary School. Click below and you won't regret it, hehehe.
Yesterday I got to do more observations for my education class, but this time I was able to go into a 2nd grade class. I was so happy because I am still trying to decide which grade level to teach, but I know that I want something between 1-3 grade. The teacher I got was great. This is only her 3rd year teaching, but she acted like if she had been doing this her whole life. I got some great tips from her on how to control your kids, ways to teach, how to treat the students, etc. The kids where soooooo cute! They were all very talkative and very hipper, and I love that. I thought it was very funny and cute that after the teacher introduced me to them as "Miss Garcia", they all kept on calling me that for the rest of the day, and for a while I felt like I was a teacher. I got to do many activities with them and also got to go to lunch with them. Doing these observations and getting to talk to the kids, really makes me feel like this what I want to do for the rest of my life. I learned soooo much from this kids' lives and personalities, by only spending a day with them, and I felt like I didn't want to leave. I was also really glad to meet one very special kid in the class. He has learning disabilities, and he had just been mainstreamed into the classroom. I know that this is the happiest child I have ever met in my life. He has some difficulties talking, but he was so excited to learn and to be around all the other kids, and he is so smart. I was also very happy to see that the other kids treated him just as a normal kid.
I get to go back on Monday and Wednesday of next week, and I am going to bring my camera with me so you all can see how cute these kids are. I love this and I can't wait until I get to be a teacher. I will write again soon and keep you updated on my great experiences.
