Annihilate Music, Resist and Punk Hardcore Australia Present
SHAI HULUD
Until 1995 the words, Shai Hulud, were identified only with the sandworms from Frank Herbert's Science Fiction epic series, Dune. Now, to tens of thousands of people worldwide, said words are synonymous with brutality, melody, and passion, for Shai Hulud's fusion of the three has garnered them respect, accolades and most importantly, a deep connection with an intensely loyal fan base.
In their ten year existence, Shai Hulud released an EP (A Profound Hatred Of Man), 2 full length albums (Hearts Once Nourished and That Within Blood Ill-Tempered), 2 split releases (with Indecision and Another Victim), and recently released A Comprehensive Retrospective a collection of the bands early recordings, live tracks and demos.
The songs of The Hulud - as they are colloquially known - hit the heart and soul, as the music impacts with melodic intensity and raw emotion, while lyrically, social wrongs, personal injustices and the issue of gathering and maintaining strength are dealt with on an intimate and relatable level. Just as Paul Muad'dib changed the face of the desert planet Dune, Shai Hulud changed the face of, and set new standards for, aggressive music.
Just when you thought you were rid of them at long last, Shai Hulud surfaces for one final tour this August, their first and last ever tour of Australia. These are going to be two of the biggest shows Perth has seen this year so don't miss them. Everyone should go for Homesy if they don't want to go for themselves! In other tour news we have Adelaide's Wendy Icon touring WA for the first time in September/October with their screamo rock that is sure to impress. Having just come off a support slot with Eighteen Visions and with a new release on it's way these guys are keen as mustard to get to the West Coast and have a party weekend. I will have a three track promo cd to hand out at the Shai Hulud shows if anyone is interested in hearing Wendy Icon if you haven't already done so or you can check out their myspace page here.
Two weeks after Wendy Icon tour, we are proud to have Parkway Drive returning to the West Coast for the third time. These shows are part of their National Killing With A Smile album launch tour and they will be playing both Perth and regional areas in the process. Our good friends Miles Away, will be launching their debut album, Consequences with two big shows in September at the Lookout, and HQ. Support comes from Melbourne's Samsara (featuring ex and current members of Horsell Common, Her Nightmare and the late, great Within Blood) and the cream of Perth hardcore including Annihilate bands, From the Ruins and Alleged, Extortion, and new bands on the block, x12xStepsx (featuring ex and current members of HATE and From the Ruins) and Jaws (featuring ex and current members of The Collapse, Extortion and From the Ruins). Go and check these shows out.
And a quick distro update. Coming in the next week is new stock from the following: Bridge 9 Records and Victory Records aswell as the new Black Dahlia Murder cd and the new MADBALL album with a limited edition bonus DVD. Hit me up if you are keen for any of this. And just a word of note, if you ask me to specifically get in something for yourself or you ask me to hold something for you please don't be a shit human and bail out on me, you wouldn't like it if someone did that to you so don't do it to me.
