the european worldwind tour continues.......

this weekend we went to prague for my birthday.....it was arguably the most beautiful city in which i could have whiled away the time :)
it was the only city in central europe that was not, due to its primarily neutral stance, devastated during the world wars. the city still reverberated with history, culture, beauty and mystique. it would have been perfect had it not been for the inevitable throngs of camera-bespectacled tourists and the respective tourist trap shops that went along with them. however, a small price to pay for a place with so much to offer.

the hilly landscape was dotted by magnificent old towers, churches and buildings, lovely picturesque parks, small labyrinthian streets and pathways in which to get deliciously lost, and of course the vltava river which spans the city and lies below several sprawling bridges. i could try to describe everything in more detail, but it would be horribly insufficient - you really MUST see it to believe it. looking out below in the tower of st. vita's cathedral (a full 360 degrees), you find yourself reeling in disbelief at what looks to be the realization of a fairy-tale book. prague is too overwhelming to fully take in the first, second, or even third visit, and i haven't even talked about what what can DO much less SEE.............

we will definitely be going back as the weather turns, the camera heads lose interest, and the city takes on a most wintery and gothic hue.....
