In Which Logic Is Ignored And Captain Beckett's Intelligence Is Called Into Question

Brendon thinks it's all terribly romantic--one of those awful, penny-dreadful romances playing out before their eyes,

"'Course, it's a pity that one of them's a moron, but you can't have everything."

("You can't decide he's a moron just because he doesn't want to fuck me."

"I can't?"

"For one thing, it's Elisa he's all over. Some people actually do prefer girls, you know?"

"Nonsense, Ryan, nonsense. Why would he prefer girls when his destiny lies with the young Saporta lordling?"

"Just because Saporta said that when he was plastered doesn't make it true. He was also babbling about a giant serpent at the time.")

--And according to Brendon, it is a story that has everything else--dashing, unrealistic characters,

("Because if someone started telling a tale about two people that massively tall, no one would believe them!"

"Just because you're an imp, B, doesn't make them supernaturally tall."

"You're one to talk, Kevin, just look at how short your relatives are!"

"Brendon, they're children, they're--you know what, never mind.")

Epic longing, world travel, a difference in class status,

("There's actually not that much of a difference, Beckett's family is plenty well off, even if he does earn his own wage."

"Give it up, Mike, he's not going to listen to anything like logic.")

and Brendon is convinced that, one, day, they'll live happily ever after and Elisa can stop looking so smug about having bagged a Captain, because she's getting on everyone's nerves, and won't listen when anyone tells her that if he's still a paying customer, he's hardly been 'bagged'.
