This is what happens when term starts: I stop updating. Plus in the first week of term I was unbelivably ill, actually too sick to go in to work all week, which has not happened to me since I became an adult (to be fair, academics tend to work through anything that doesn't leave you prone, because rescheduling lectures and teaching is so difficult). I may have developed an allergy to ibuprofen, which would be deeply inconvenient. Spartacus and I also had an exciting "is this arm broken? better check" adventure, involving X-rays.
There has also been even more preserving: another lot of tomato chutney, and bramble jelly (really, blackberry, haw, elderberry, redcurrant and apple, but that's too long). the chutney is for home consumption only, because I made it in a pot with burnt chutney stuck to it from an earlier batch, and that came off during the cooking, and so there are little bits of something that has the consistency and taste of metal in it. I picked out what I could, but not all of it.
In fannish news, this is a non-Yuletide year for me -- I did bookmarks some letters with prompts I liked to look of but I won't have time to write anything because see above re: term. Being busy has also kept me off tumblr, which all in all is a good thing, I think. It is sometimes quite soothing to see the pictures go past, but there seem to be so many posts about how dreadful it is to be female, very few of which reflect my own experiences. But now tumblr is sending me messages about itself, presumably in a bid to get me to log in more frequently.
I am watching a lot of TV in a not very serious fashion, and the only thing I feel serious about is The Almighty Johnsons. But I'm staying away from all fic and meta until I finish the season, since I've already managed to spoil myself for some plot things to come.
And wow, all of a sudden I'm really tired: I was up very early this morning, and all of a sudden it has caught up with me. So goodbye October, I'm going to sleep.
